Since September 18th, the sands of Tahiti have played host to the 16 best teams in the world taking part in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tahiti 2013.
Over the past 10 days, the teams of Japan, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Iran, Netherlands, Paraguay, Russia, El Salvador, Senegal, Tahiti, Solomon Islands, Spain United Arab Emirats and USA have challenges each other at Tahu’a Toa’ta stadium.
The Tahiti team, Tiki Toa, will be playing Brazil tonight in the quarter finals for 3rd place after they were defeated by Russia 3-5 in the semi-finals yesterday and Russia will be playing Spain in the final.
It was the Tiki Toa’s first participation to the Beach Soccer World Cup and they have made Tahitians proud.
This international event has allowed Tahiti to show the world that even though we are a small island, we are able to host international events.
Thanks to all the teams, thanks to FIFA and may the best teams win!
